Barley Grass is a cereal grass that is cultivated at the early stage of development, when young Barley Grass is in its most nutritious state. However, as the plant gets older it becomes more fibrous providing much less nutritional value, this is why it is important to harvest Barley Grass when young.
Barley Grass is low in energy but high in vital nutrients. It contains no fat or cholesterol, has one gram of protein per 5 gram serving and contains both essential and non-essential amino acids. Amino Acids are building blocks found in protein foods that are important for growth and repair of the body’s cells.
