Essential amino acids (EAAs) are protein building blocks that are required for the growth and development of muscle tissue. There are eight amino acids generally considered essential for human health including isoleucine, leucine, valine, methionine, lysine, phenylalanine, tryptophan and threonine.

EAAs may increase the rate of recovery from strength, power & endurance training .Furthermore, EAAs can significantly increase the rate of muscle protein synthesis post-exercise which may lead to superior developments in lean muscle and strength.

Adequate intake of EAAs is highly important during intense training periods. Insufficient consumption of EAAs may lead to a catabolic process wherein the body depletes its own amino acid stores. Supplementing with EAAs may help to prevent muscle protein loss and support muscle growth.

The consumption of these amino acids from dietary sources becomes important during intense training periods as they are not made within the body. If carbohydrate stores are low the body can convert muscle amino acids into glucose and use it as fuel. If extra amino acids are available, this can help to prevent muscle protein being broken down as a source of energy.

Optimum intake will vary depending on training intensity and volume. Daily recommended intake is 5 - 10 ISO EAA® tablets. During intense training intake may be increased to 15 ISO EAA® tablets per day, taking 3 tablets immediately before, 3 - 6 tablets during and 3 to 6 tablets after your training session.
